The Church is referred to as the fold of God's Sheep, of whom the Lord is the Good Shepherd.
Jesus is the way of entrance into this fold. It is spoken as being both the bride of Christ and the body of Christ.
The Church is lovingly referred to as the Family of God. We call each other brother and sister, all of who are the sons
and daughters of God.
We come into this family by being born again, which simply means that the heart of a man
must experience regeneration when God's love and power comes into that heart.
Paul had a reason for calling the
believers in Christ "The Church of God". The true local congregation of the Church of God as Paul saw it is that
body of redeemed Christians who meet together for fellowship and worship. He also thought of the Church of God as consisting
of all of God's people.
The foundations for the church were laid during Jesus' ministry, but were not set until
His mission on earth was completed and the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost.
